Star New Year Head
Sudbury Rowing Club competed at the Bedford Star New Year Head race with singles, doubles, quads, coxed fours and an eight taking part.
It was a very successful day, with six wins for the club.
Single scullers were Owen Moriarty (Junior 15), Harry Moule (competing up a year in Junior 14), Martha Bullen (winner of Junior 15), Jen Titterington (winner of Women’s Open), Sophie Brown (Adaptive).
Double scull crews were Tracy Muir and Teresa Moriarty (Women’s Masters D), Bev Goodchild (IRC) and Jen Titterington (winners of Women’s Open) and Jen Titterington and Stephen Nichols (winners of Mixed Open event).
Amelia Moule, Tilly Barnard, Freya Evans and Amelia Maskell (Women’s Junior 18 coxless quad), Martha Bullen, Tilly Barnard, Freya Evans and Amelia Moule (winners of Women’s Open coxless quad event).
Gareth Moriarty, Henry Tullin, Byron Bullen and Sam McLoughlin (winners of Men’s Junior 18 coxless quad). The same crew also raced in the Men’s Open coxless quad.
Paul Adams, Lee Adams, Stephen Nichols, Tim Hysom and Owen Moriarty (cox) – Mens Masters C coxed four.
Mike Arnott, Mark Tyrie, Sean Moriarty, Andrew Blit and Gareth Moriarty (cox) – Mens Masters E coxed four.
The two men’s fours also rowed together in a Masters D eight with Amelia Moule coxing.
Training will continue until the next event which will be Bedford Fours and Eights Head in February.

Sudbury Rowing Club’s New Year got off to a tremendous start at Bedford Star’s Head of the River Race on Sunday 13th of January.

Sudbury Rowing Club attended their first race of the year at Bedford Star Head. Nick George returned to Bedford for the first time in ten years in his debut race representing Sudbury.

Sudbury Rowing Club took one of its largest crews to Bedford, with 21 crews entered across the five divisions, racing the 2000m course.
