Senior racing report: Met, Marlow and Henley
In early June, a small contingent from Sudbury raced at the Metropolitan Regatta.
Harry Moule and Byron Bullen raced well in the double sculls, finishing ninth in the time trial and second in the B Final, placing them tenth in a competitive field.
Lewis made his 2km single sculling debut, placing 23rd in the time trial and seventh in the C Final, ending up as the ninth championship single sculler. Harry also competed in the single sculls, finishing 19th in the time trial and winning the C Final, ultimately ranking as the sixth under-23 single sculler. Amelia Moule raced on Sunday, securing 28th place in the time trial and fifth in the D Final. These are some great results to build on for the rest of the season.
The following weekend, on 15 June, Harry and Byron raced at Marlow Regatta, finishing third in the time trial and fifth in the D Final in a time of 6:38.3. This placed them in lane three in the A Final, where they finished fifth in a time of 6:58.1. This was a great step on for the boys and a good performance in the lead up to Henley Royal Regatta.
In July at Henley Royal Regatta, Harry and Byron reached the quarter-finals of the Double Sculls Challenge Cup. They raced very well, unfortunately losing out to a very strong Leander crew who went on to win the whole event. Congratulations to Harry and Byron on an amazing achievement: racing at Henley on the Friday!
