Henley Sculls Head Race 2021

The men’s coxless quad of Byron Bullen, Raph Franke, Steve Zimmerman and Harry Moule.

Sudbury rowing club posted some excellent results at Henley on Thames, racing at Henley Sculls Head Race. The crews raced over a beautifully scenic 3k course, past the infamous Temple Island and finished at the Royal Regatta finish.

There were two winning crews, the first being the women’s double scull of Martha Bullen and Amelia Moule who won their event in a time of 14:01, beating nine other crews in a very high class event. Also in the same event was Jess Wilby and Emily Norfolk who finished eight in a time of 16:27.

Steve Zimmerman won the masters b/c single sculls event in a time of 14:24, over a minute quicker than the second place sculler.

The men’s coxless quad of Byron Bullen, Raph Franke, Steve Zimmerman and Harry Moule had an impressive race in a top quality event finishing second in a time of 11:48, close behind the winning Henley crew.

Harry Moule raced up a year in the men’s J18 single sculls event. This was the busiest category of the day with 45 scullers competing and Harry finished in 3rd place in an excellent time of 14:14.bAlso in the same event was Raph Franke who also competed well finishing 36th in a time of 15:55.

Another admirable result for the women’s coxless quad of Amelia Moule, Evie Prager, Emily Norfolk and Martha Bullen who finished in second place in a time of 13:58.

Evie Prager also competed in the women’s J18 single sculls event finishing 14th in a time of 17:22.

Jess Wilby competed in the women’s single sculls event finishing 12th and adaptive rower Sophie Brown finished 13th in the same event. Sophie has very few chances to compete against other adaptive rowers but enjoys racing and competing so takes every opportunity.

The next event for Sudbury Rowing Club will be the Fours Head of the River race on the Thames next weekend.
